Fiona Boyes is Australia's most successful internationally touring blues artist. Her previous release on the Reference Recordings label, "Professin' The Blues," was nominated for "Acoustic Album of the Year" by Blues Blast Magazine in 2017. The Blues Foundation in Memphis has honored her with 6 nominations for the Blues Music Award. In 2003, she won the International Blues Challenge as a representative of the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society. "Voodoo In The Shadows" is her latest self-produced album, exploring the allure of the backroads from Memphis to Mississippi, down to New Orleans and the Gulf. In eleven songs, Boyes tells stories of respect, attitude, mysteries, partying, sensuality, and love.
Joining her are two Australian bandmates: multi-instrumentalist Tim Neal (Hammond B3, piano, bass, and baritone saxophone) and drummer Mark Gruden. Also featured is Johnny Sansone, a musician from New Orleans, who adds his harmonica and accordion to spice up this international gumbo! As usual, Fiona plays a cornucopia of guitars, including her 6-string Maton, three cigar-box instruments, and her rare National ResoLectric Baritone. Let yourself be taken on a magical journey!
